The present China: A meeting place of the past and future

I love being a bystander with a camera. It’s a tangible rush of joy when exploring a new place, breathing in the scent of a culture, a community.
My passions for travelling and photography developed from a young age as I heard of my father’s travels and I saw him tending to his camera. Photos touch hearts and minds, makes people stop and notice a solitary moment.
I have an academic background in psychology and I’m currently studying law. In the community, I want to use photography to raise awareness about issues. Recently, I was in Vanuatu educating and building schools. Documenting and sharing this started a dialogue about education in this community, stimulating hearts back home to share in the joy and grief and also give financially, allowing children there to have dreams, and pursue them.
One short term goal is to go on a trip abroad before getting married. One long term goal I’ve held since primary school when I pored over a monthly magazine now covered in rugged brown paper, is to go on an adventure with National Geographic. I’m getting married in October and my finances are limiting travel. Sending me to Oman with Jason Edwards would fulfil two dreams of mine.
