To me, photography represents "seeing" the extraordinary from the normality of everyday living and capturing it, and freezing it in time for all to see.
It is a way of looking at life differently, appreciating the beauty that nature flashes past our eye's every single moment, that many of us miss because we are busy racing through our 9-5 lifestyles that we take for granted.
Apart from the obvious artistic benefits, for me, photography is a passion that allows you express not only what's important to you, but challenges you to think and more importantly "look" outside the square for the unique and those rare moments when all the ingrediants are perfect, for what could be a mere "second" in time.
The challenge of putting yourself in a position where you may or (may not) be in the right place at the right time to capture that once in a lifetime shot but feeling that anticipation and hunger that keeps you going.
That to me is the main reason behind my passion for photography. Its an appreciation for what nature provides us every moment, and the knowledge and a sense of accomplishment that that brings into our everyday world.
Fortunately my job as a sales rep on the road provides me with many opportunity's and situations where I have captured the beauty of the australian landscape, often parking my car on the side of a country road and walking across fields and climbing fences in my suit and dress shoes if I see something that "tweeks" my senses. To me, the adventure adds to the satisfaction when you see you've captured something that is truely inspiring in its beauty, whether its an outback sunset, or country kids playing on an old rusty tractor.
Thats the key, the passion and the vision to see what others don't and make it tangible.
That's why I love it.
