Swimming with Sharks and sailing with Dolphins

Wednesday 5th August

Key West

Today was a highlight day. Our little gaggle of gay friends headed off on a “three hour cruise”. Think Gilligan's Island - our ship (a 50' catamaran) set sail for a day of snorkeling on the coral reefs surrounding Key West. Highlight would have to be swimming with big sharks up close and personal (nurse sharks, so although scary looking, placid and essentially harmless). Lunch was then served on the boat as we sailed to our next destination – more swimming and snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters on a sand bank way out in the ocean. A powder-soft sandy bottom with only a few islands out in the distance made it a surreal experience. Then on the return trip where we sailed along with a pod of dolphins who played with us and to top it off we were visited by a sea turtle. Our tans topped off beautifully today! We bought some local prawns and had these by the pool to finish off our day then collapsed into bed. Ahhhh, another day in Paradise.
