2. In northern Madagascar, a boy named Manjakanoni, gathers clusters of succulent vanilla beans to be shipped West, as Madagascar’s most profitable crop.

1. Avenue du Baobabs. The ancient trees are known to mark rural areas historically inhabited by human social groups. This cluster of 1000+ year old Baobabs lines a well-traveled path, along which locals continue to herd goats or wheelbarrow sacks of rice and provisions.
