Thanda: Into the Heart of Zululand

About jesstout

JES STOUT has been doing fine art analog photography since she was fourteen years old. She was lucky enough to be taught and mentored by David Prifti, the Concord-Carlisle High School photography teacher, from which, she grew great inspiration. Always manipulating images to find something different, she ventured into the world of digital photography.

After studying anthropology and archaeology for one year at the University of Vermont, she decided it wasn't for her and took a year off. She flew to South Africa and lived on Thanda Private Game Reserve for two months, photographing and conducting wildlife research. During this time she also visited the Mdletshe School and the Mafa School, where she taught the kids about the hippopotamus, the crocodile and geckos. She currently attends Massachusetts College of Art and Design where she is studying Photography and Sculpture.
