My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Monday, November 7, 2011 | 5 photos

I took these images in the afternoon and early evening on a trip to Stockholm in Sweden. I found it fascinating how much the colours changed as the evening progressed. I titled these shots 'Life through the Cold' because it gets dark very early and the temperatures are below zero yet life continues on as normal.

My name is Jesse and I am a New Zealander currently living in London. Travelling around the world has heightened my passion for creativity through photography. I am an adventurous person with a love for new places, people and experiences. I have always been interested in photography from a young age but it really kicked off after taking images of my brother and father surfing and striving for that ‘perfect shot’. The enjoyment I get from creating a great shot is what keeps me shooting.

The ability to portray emotion or feeling through capturing a special moment in time is why I love photography. Then to take the next step and share these experiences with others is incredibly fulfilling. I am inspired by anything that I would like to share and this is what drives me to get a great shot; I wouldn’t share anything I didn’t like.

I am an amateur photographer with a hunger to learn as much as I can and this is why the opportunity you are offering is so mind blowing. Photography and travel are both aspects of life that I will endeavour to incorporate into a career. I really do believe that I should win this scholarship because I have an open mind ready to learn and take on any situation that comes my way.

Thank you.
