My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Canada | Saturday, July 6, 2013 | 5 photos

I am an aspiring photojournalist specializing in travel documentary and wildlife work. I’m also the perfect fit for the Travel Photography Scholarship in Greenland. An avid outdoor adventurer and jack-of-all-trades, I welcome every challenge as an opportunity and strive to master every task to the best of my abilities. Photojournalism has pushed me outside my comfort zone, and offers opportunities to learn about the world’s peoples, places and cultures. It is my desire to shed awareness and share those stories with others. It is also my dream to be published by National Geographic magazine. A nomad in spirit, I’ve lived and travelled extensively in Canada and abroad. I left my biochemist career to work and travel across Canada, visiting every province and territory and all three bordering oceans with camera in hand. My experiences led me to study photojournalism in Calgary, and I was granted my diploma in May 2013. I am currently interning at the Winnipeg Free Press for the summer, but already look forward to my next learning opportunity. A scholarship such as this would be an honour and a dream come true.
