Jeju Island is now one of new7wonders of nature. The trip is highly recommended for newlyweds as its scenery not only calls for love and romance but the food and adventure is also a specialty here. I and my best friend Sung-Guk Yoon landed Jeju airport in a calm, quite and cloudy atmosphere with a particular scent of Island in the air. We drove the car on a foggy and misty road which seemed very spooky at places as night was getting dark and we may see only couple of feet at times making it more adventurous journey towards our beach side hut. Next morning we set for climbing Hallasan Mountain a 1,950 m and highest in South Korea. The lake-filled crater at the top was breath-taking. The tracks for up and down journey consist of different species of plants, caves, rivers, volcanic rocks and splendid sightseeing spots. After reaching downhill you really feel eating something and we ordered sashi-mei (a specialty at Jeju Island), changpong(seafood noodlles) and of course Kimchi. Most remember able experience was a bike ride across Udo Island, meeting Haenyo (Women divers) and the awesome Jeonbokjuk abalone porridge made by fresh abalone caught by those Haenyo from the bottoms of ocean. Besides all this adventure Seongsan Ilchulbong peak is a sight to behold where we made our sunrises in Jeju special ones which we will remember for a long time. It rained the day we were returning but on our way back the sun appeared and we went to beach. The beauty of the place was spellbinding and I cannot forget swimming experience along the beach. As we returned for airport the beautiful sunset and windmill farms along the stunning coast line made a lasting impression. Bijarim forest road which we traveled every day is a beautiful road with tall cedars and fields of silver grass that glitter in the sunlight and horses roaming around in vast green fields is worth seeing. Geomunoreum Lava Tube system, waterfalls and awesome beaches are compelling reasons to visit Jeju Island.
