It was shortly after sunrise when I was picked up outside my hotel in Phnom Penh along with the rest of my tour group. Once packed up, our journey continued as the van took us through the city once more before going over a long bridge crossing the Ton Lap River just above where it met the Mekong. Once across the river, we followed the main road in between the two rivers heading northwards towards Siem Reap. The road was in reasonable condition, but several grades below the road we had travelled into Phnom Penh the other day coming from Ho Chi Minh City.
