This is one of the many elderly female porters along the everest trail. She's carrying a 20 kilo sack of rice from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche, the next village on the way to base camp. It's a long 6 hour hike up a steep cliff side and then another long return trip home.

Once a week there's a small market in Namche Bazaar, the largest town along the trail to Everest. The Khumbu people gather from all around and trade everything from yaks to mobile phones. I found these two hiding behind their mother's vegetable stall, taking a break from the bartering.
