    A rescue helicopter ferrying hikers back down the valley towards Lukla airport. Helicopters fly up and down to Everest base camp throughout the day, a heli tour in this part of the world can cost you up to $2500 an hour. Views[1030] One of the more isloated houses along the Everest trail. Situated at 4000 metres it looks down towards the town of Phortse and the valleys of Sagarmatha National Park. Views[280] The horns of Mani Rimdu. Lamas sound these horns to announce the beginning of the Mani Rimdu festival, a 19-day sequence of sacred ceremonies at Tengboche Monastery. Views[357] This is one of the many elderly female porters along the everest trail. She's carrying a 20 kilo sack of rice from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche, the next village on the way to base camp. It's a long 6 hour hike up a steep cliff side and then another long return trip home. Views[386] Once a week there's a small market in Namche Bazaar, the largest town along the trail to Everest. The Khumbu people gather from all around and trade everything from yaks to mobile phones. I found these two hiding behind their mother's vegetable stall, taking a break from the bartering.
