Captured on Cobblestones in Sienna, Italy

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Italy | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

The pure exhileration of capturing the moment is why I love photography (and to my friend's amusement carry my camera everywhere) as you never know where or when that may pop up! There is so much beauty in this world with nature's intricacies and patterns, I am inspired every day by my daily walk and cycles in Sydney (where I am currently based, working as a Personal Assistant). My father recently had a stroke and although is recovering slowly, he took my hand and made a very poignant remark at Christmas, "You've got to make the most of things, before it's too late." You need to do what you love, to love what you do. Entering this scholarship is my first step to chasing those dreams.
Growing up on a cattle property in the Snowy Mountains, my playground was tall eucalypts, myriads of farm animals and the scenic surrounds of the great outdoors. It's the shadows, reflections, colours, textures and humour in life that catch my eye, I love a giggle and to smile at the little things.
Teaching in South Korea and traveling abroad have definitely inspired to experience new places and try to capture those magic moments for both myself (it's my passion!) and for others to appreciate.
