My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I'm a recent college graduate about to begin work as a graphic designer for a shoe company, but I don't define myself by my profession. I define myself by my ceaseless wanderlust. I have been fortunate enough to have visited over 16 different countries, including unconventional destinations such as Iceland and Slovenia. Photography was an accidental side effect of my lust for travel. It became a way for me to souvenir the lands and peoples I encountered. Now, however, travel photography is an obsession more than a hobby. I don't travel to stay in five-star resorts and dine in three courses. I book a hostel and eat in hole-in-wall restaurants, and my sole mission is to accurately capture the "feel" of a place, the intangible and unspoken character of a person, and somehow do it within the confines of 24-megapixels. In all honesty, I work solely to travel but my dream is to travel solely for work. I love graphic design and would be content doing it for the rest of my life, but I want to be more than content. If it's not too late, I'd like to pursue my passion and do so under the guidance and mentorship of someone who has already done so.
