My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Friday, January 11, 2013 | flickr photos
I got my first camera when I was 13. Since then I kept taking photos of everybody and everything around me. I was intrigued by visual arts and studied communication design in Germany. During an internship with Almap, an ad agency in São Paulo I had the idea to create a book about Brazil's visual culture, because there didn't exist anything like this yet. I met and interviewed 40 people who all contribute to Brazil's visual culture from the most divers angles. During 6 months I managed to take 60h of interviews and 14.000 photos. In the following 6 months I designed the book with a volume of more than 400 pages and handed it in as my university diploma. Since then I lived in Amsterdam and London and work with editorial photography on daily basis. Surprisingly I never photographed for work myself. 2012 we travelled to India where I took a series of portraits and I enjoyed the interaction during the shoot a lot. With a camera in my hand I look deeper, from different angles and beyond the surface. I would love to revitalise that talent and push myself to that direction professionally as well. A tour to Oman with you sounds like a great chance to capture people, heritage and culture.
