My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Indonesia | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I love travelling. I love photography. Travel photography is the most exciting job I could imagine. Continuously capturing moments in time, emotions, personalities, colours, movement, character, and ambience. Telling a story without words....
I often look back on my photos and remember the smell of the Calcutta streets, the feeling of the Spanish sun, the dry wind of Everest Base Camp, the sound of women laughing in Peru and children practising their English in Java.
Behind a lens I feel more alive, inspired and capable. I love seeing people’s reaction to the camera, the poses they strike. I love the challenge of making them feel at ease, capturing a candid moment. I love being totally immersed in another culture, life, scene.
Photography encourages me to interact in a way, and with people I probably wouldn’t otherwise. It is such a test to continuously find new angles and think creatively to find original shots. It compels me to wake up early to see the sunrise and stay out late to enjoy the streets at night.
Learning from Jason Edwards would be such a privilege and would be an incredible beginning to the great career in travel photography I hope to pursue.
