Growing up Bedouin

Growing up Bedouin - a generation in transition.

Jordan | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos

Photography for me began when I received my first 35mm film scans. Shot on a 40 year old Yashica (still my favourite), the images showed me how a single photograph could tell a tale - ever since I haven’t stopped showing people what I see.

I have often been frustrated at hearing “why would you want to go there?” when explaining where I’m travelling to. Photography has given me a way to share the wonder that I search for and see everywhere.

The journey of mastering an art has no destination, I realise that the techniques I use now may seem silly to me in years to come. I want to explore photojournalism and change in response to what I find. The level of mentoring that Jason could provide would offer the sort of professional and artistic exploration that would feed the passion I already have.

Greenland is not a well-known destination for many and an interesting landscape always provides stunning photos, it is here that I would love the challenge of showing people more than the obvious. Getting engaged in the people and places whilst learning the art of photography all over again from Jason would offer a unique set of images whilst propelling me into my photojournalistic dreams.
