My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Jasmine Trejo. I am an individual who lives to talk. More than anything, I am curious about the world and its people. I love to meet someone new and hear all about their personal life experiences and try to see how unique elements have made them who they are when I meet them. It is the same with the places I find myself in. I see beauty everywhere and the nets I use to capture it are my pen and my camera. While I love both creative outlets, I find myself leaning more towards pictures because they are grasped instantly through our gift of vision; words require a bit more mental effort to comprehend the meaning behind them. Pictures evoke instant emotion.
The reason I should win this contest is because I am passionate in my curiosity about the world and eager to learn all I can about photography. I am an amateur photographer at best. I have never taken a photography class and I don't own a fancy camera. All I know is that whenever I am out and about exploring a new place or meeting new people I find myself with a desire to take pictures of them to capture a portion of the permanence of their beauty in this changing world. I hope to inspire others to go do the same.
