My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

These photographs represent a lot about who I am, both as an individual and a photographer.
I chose to submit photographs from my own backyard because there are many beautiful places on my property in which I love to visit. It is believed that wherever frogs live, the land surrounding is pure and natural. I feel a strong affiliation with nature and animals, and this has stemmed from my own home. I rarely edit my photographs, and have decided to leave these untouched and clean like the frog and its environment.
I have just completed my Year 12 HSC, and like many other young people, I feel as though the pathways of possibilities are endless. Ever since I was young I have always had a passion to be a photographer, however, I never thought I could pursue this hobbie and make a living from it. I welcome this opportunity entirely.
I had a little work experience as an assistant photographer a few years ago, and this solidified my passion for photography. As a result I worked hard last year and saved up for my very first SLR, a Canon 550D. Ever since, I have been practicing with manual functions on my camera and have a sound understanding of how to take a good photograph. I would love to be able to take it one step further.
I have always had an innate desire to travel across the world, and always been curious to experience new things. I am very willing to contribute my own perspective of our beautiful planet and especially those living in it. I am eager to learn, and ready to start now. If chosen, I would make this a platform for a career in travel photography.
I am very excited, thank you for this opportunity!
