My Scholarship entry - Time Stood Still

Australia | Sunday, November 16, 2014 | 4 photos

My name is Jarrod Styles and I'm 19 years old. Apprentice plumber by day, nature lover and aspiring ametuer photographer in my spare time.
To me, photography isn't how I make money, its how I express myself through a captured moment in time. Capturing the emotion and raw beauty of nature and culture is what I like to do most. When I was 18 i got my first camera, a Nikon D3100 which I still use today. Only just recently I watched a small documentary on astrophotographer, Mark Gee, and the way he captured the moon with the silhouettes on the mountain was so inspiring and the effect it had on the wider community left me in pure awe, one day I to achieve the same. Personally I believe that I possess the keen young mind that would fully appreciate what World Nomads is offering, I think that this experience would completely change my life and approach to photography in a way that money could not buy. Even though I'm not the most experienced or most skilled I would love to take this opportunity with a open mind and a willingness to learn. In the future I hope to one day take photos for national geographic like Jason Edwards himself.
