The sad side of the sunset

The sad side of Africa

I will get right to the point. I would LOVE to win this scholarship because I don’t want to be an ordinary photographer, I want to be extraordinary! This scholarship combines my two greatest loves, photography and South Africa! I have had a desire to be an amazing photographer since I was about 5 and got my first camera, then I photographed pets and toys, now I long for more.

I am fighting to learn as much as I possibly can, and I believe that I would thrive under the mentoring of Jason Edwards. His mentoring will change my life and career and I hope to inspire the world with small snippets of one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

South Africa holds my heart. I was born and raised there. I spent 20 years absorbing every bit of the breathtaking culture and country… then I moved to Sweden, a world of difference. Everyday, I long for the diversity of South Africa and I can guarantee you, that you will not find anyone else with as much desire to share South Africa’s beauty.

I want to have this opportunity so I will finally have the chance to follow my heart, and have nothing hold me back so that I may harness the abilities I know I have, and to be allowed to tap into my creativity in an environment that inspires me in every second.

I want a chance to prove myself, not to you, not to my family or friends, but to myself. I want to be proud of my ability as a photographer and I want to show just how proud I am of my country!

I hope that you will allow me the privilege to do so.
