My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a twenty-three year old photography student at a small university in southern Ohio getting ready to study abroad to Germany in April and graduate with my BFA in May. I am originally from Southern California where I graduated high school in 2008 and promptly moved across the country to study and play collegiate volleyball. I have overcome many barriers while in college but ultimately it has been a time for me to figure out exactly what I want in life and this is it: travel, explore, and search for what I call "the human element." This has become a part of who I am as a person. I seek the binding element between us all. It is my dream to travel and photograph the world. I want to tell the story of the human and celebrate the things that make us different as well as the things that make us similar. I am headstrong when I need to be and I am determined to accomplish my dreams. Photography and travel aren't just hobbies to me. They are what I was meant to do. I never feel more myself than when I am documenting the human experience and exploring the human element to our world.
