My Scholarship entry - Our pain, their game.
Australia | Thursday, November 20, 2014 | 5 photos
My name is James Ross; I’m twenty-four years old and live in Melbourne, Australia. Recently, I graduated from college with a diploma of photo imaging. Upon graduating I attained an award for overall excellence and I consider myself an extremely hard working, enthusiastic individual.
I believe I should be awarded the 2014 scholarship, as it would be an incredible, opportunity to take my photography career a step forward.
The photo essay for my entry documents and tells a story about a protest against our current federal government budgetary measures in the central business district of Melbourne, Australia.
I’m confident I’ve documented this event without bias, providing a voice for all involved. My motives are to raise awareness that people are affected and care about the government’s policy making, if I’m granted this amazing opportunity I will seize every second abroad.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about where photography could take me but I’m certain I want my work to make a difference to someone’s life, to educate, inform and give back to our society. I won't make a difference in this world instantaneously but this scholarship could put me in the right direction to do so
