The Journey. Getting there....

The morning of the 5th of February had finally come, I'd been planning this trip for a while now, anyway the morning started of early, I left the house by 8 to grab coffee on the way to the train station, I had to be @ robina by 9.20 in order to make it to brisbane airport by 11.20 (check in time). The train took for what seemed like ever, I never thought it was ever going to get there, so that was when I realised this is going to be one really long day.
Anyway the long hour on the train passed and I headed towards the big display board to see where I was going to check in. Of course my check-in counter is at the very end. I made my way down towards counter 10 with my snowboard in one hand, bag in the other and backpack on my back. At this point I was looking forward to ditching the luggage until vancouver.
Once I checked in I made my way towards the security check and then customs. As I went through the security I got asked to the side to have the explosives test done, too bad I'm not 18 as yet so I got to breeze right by.
Once I got through customs all I wanted was food I was so hungry, after having a McDonalds craving all day I soon found out there is no McDonalds at Brisbane airport. I ended up settling for red rooster, which filled the spot. Once grabbing some lunch and wondering aimlessly around the airport for about an hour my flight was called to board, so there the journey actually begun.
Boarding the China Air plane expecting it to be like the plans I usually fly on internationally, pretty big and a little space, not much but a little, my expectations were soon gone out the window, the plane was such a small plan, 2 window seats and four seats in the middle, there was hardly any room, but once the sleeping tablets kicked in it worked out relatively ok.
After an 8 an a half hour flight we were all set for landing in taipei. After not eating for the whole flight I was getting super hungry by the time we were starting to decent. My plan yet again was to get some fast food at the airport, surely there will be something, having so many flights come in and out…. but no after searching and searching I was soon saddened to the fact that there wont be anything until Vancouver or maybe even calgary.
So once then checking my facebook and replying to a few comments and messages I had to set out to find something to eat because I refuse to eat plane food as it's the worst ever (in my opinion). I started to roam the airport up and down for a while looking at my options and I had taiwanese or taiwanese but I just had the greatest craving for western food, I know thats being boring and plain but when you've been travelling all day and you just want your favourite food nothing else really makes the cut!
So anyway being starving and needing something I decided to order shredded chicken and rice figuring I could eat chicken and rice and that it would hopefully be somewhat filling but to be totally honest its probably the worst chicken and rice i've tasted and has made me feel worse then I already did so my next option was to grab some chocolate and just fill up on that but its way way too expensive so I decided I'm going to have to go without food until I hit Vancouver airport.
So I then decided I would just head to my departure gate, here I am sitting on the floor with a sprite at my gate, there are about maybe 3-4 other australians. Right now im just wishing this flight is going to go so fast so I can be in Vancouver and a bit closer to getting to Calgary. Im pooped, im sick of travelling, I've had enough for one day thats for sure.
