Jade Hincks Scholarship entry - Cades Cove Tennessee
USA | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos
I wasn’t a kid who watched hours of cartoons on TV; for me it was National Geographic. I am a creative, so it was natural for me to fall in love with the medium of photography, especially with the heavy visual influence of National Geographic. Malcolm Gladwell has a theory in his book ‘Outliers’: a person can only be successful once they have completed ten thousand hours of doing and learning. My landscape photography could use more planning, my portraiture more thought. When my photography is seen I want it to be moving, and to hold a element of spirit. Simply, I wish for viewers to react to my work the way I react to the work of National Geographic Photographers. That it would inspire them and instill one more, tiny bit of beauty in their lives. The only thing I remember of my childhood wishes, the only other hope I have repeated over again in my life, is that I want my photography to be published with National Geographic. I am so willing to be mentored, to learn and to be influenced by greatness. I have a lust for beauty, and in receiving this scholarship I will be able to directly be a part of creating it, doing what I love. Thank you for taking time to consider my application.
