First weekend of the festival done

UNITED KINGDOM | Monday, 4 August 2008 | Views [272]

Ok, in short - prices are insane. When it costs over 3 quid for a pint of Tennants you know its bad news!

Shows so far have been great.

Went to The List opening party at the spiegeltent on Thurs.

Fri was at the Outhouse bar sitting outside (yep it was warm enough - so rare!) soaking up the atmosphere.

Saturday went to The Really Shitty Puppet Theatre's performace of 'the complete history of the arts'. This was great, really funny, and worth going to see!

Sunday night was a trip to see the Transgression freesports show at the 'SoCo Urban Garden' - aka the big hole left after the cowgate fire. They've built a skate park with ramps in there, and its actually a really cool venue. You can go in for a beer anytime, but you have to pay to get a proper view of the skating/bmxing/blading antics. The guys doing the skating/bmxin are awesome, really cool. The atmosphere was great. Bit steep at 10.50 (we got 2 for 1 thankfully) each, but totally worth it as you can spend ages in there, and then once the show is done, folk are still skating about.

Tonight is Ed Byrne,

Fri - Phil Kay,

Sat - Tim Minchin,

Next Mon - Shaun Lock

and i'll have to get along to the phoenix bar on broughton st again this year for their late night comedy thing, was great last year, and its free!
