My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

At 28 years old most people are settling into their lives, finding the job they want, or starting a family. I am just starting to figure out what I love. I have been a dolphin trainer, a healthy eating chef, a snowboard bum, a horse trainer, a marine biology/scuba diving assistant, and a farmer. But I have come to realize, none of these fulfill me like photography, travel and story telling.

I have been taking photographs since I was 15 when I learned to process and develop my own film, and ate up every word my instructor uttered. He instilled in me a lifelong love of photographs and the stories they can tell, and I am just now beginning to focus on photography as a potential career. At 28.

This trip to Oman would be a life changing experience! I feel that working with Jason, listening to his experiences, tips, and watching him work would open my eyes in a world that I seek to be a part of; professional photography.

It is my goal to travel and tell the stories of people and places. Not because I think they would otherwise go untold, but because everyone and every place has a story and they all deserve to be heard.
