Traveling should never end

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Wednesday, October 13, 2010 | flickr photos

These photos represent a minute sampling of the beauty in which I live. Even after exploring such areas as the Alaskan coast, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, and the hills of West Africa, Jackson, Wyoming is always a stunning home to return to.

A couple of the goals I hope to achieve with this scholarship are to learn new techniques to portray my home and travels, along with new methods to view subjects An experienced photographer could provide me with the skills to capture the moment before it passes.

My contribution would include a fresh perspective and artistry to the world of photography. One can make any subject awe-inspiring with the correct techniques, even if the object may be less than beautiful. With attention to detail and an eagerness to learn the culture and language, I sincerely hope to portray Bhutan in an honest and compelling manner.

This particular photo set was taken entirely in western Wyoming, USA. Fly-fishing is an integral part of life here. Wide open spaces are also appreciated for the opportunity to escape and immerse oneself with nature. I have captured the vastness and spirit of the area, along with the connection between fish and fisherman.

Working for National Geographic is a dream of many; one I aspire to turn into a reality. Photography is inspiring to me because it allows people who cannot or will not travel a glimpse into another world and for me to share my personal experiences. Giving the world a more powerful and evocative image of a place I visit or live is a strong incentive to win this scholarship. Please provide me the opportunity to run through the forests of Bhutan and to display my emotions and the country`s beauty through the lens of a camera.
