Setting off; During the month of April Zanzibar experience stormy rain, mostly during the morning. These storms can subside as suddenly as they appeared.

Housting the sails; In the early nineteen hundreds an English officer sationed on the island stated that the days of the dhow are over, as steam engines started arriving. Today More than hundred years later, dhows still carry more cargo too and from the island than any other mode of transport, and the culture of sailing is still very alive.
