As soon as school finished for the day, the boys would be in the courtyard playing with their spinning tops.

This is Bina. She was one of the more solemn & shy girls in the orphanage. This is the only photo I ever got of Bina smiling, and it was during ‘play time’. I was lying on my back with my feet in the air, and she was attempting to balance on my feet with her belly.

There was always life and people around the Happy Home. Often the girls would stand on the balcony and gaze down at the happenings in the courtyard. This is Jyoti (in the back) and Dhanmaya, enjoying the events of the day.
