I know it's frowned upon to have favourites amongst the kids, but Nishan was definitely a favourite. He was always smiling, even when doing his weekly washing chores.

These are the two eldest girls of the Happy Home, Jyoti and Chippu. They would take on many of the typically 'motherly' roles around the house, such as cooking and cleaning. On the 'Holy-days' (every saturday) they would sit in the yard with other women chatting for hours.

This is Bina. She was one of the more solemn & shy girls in the orphanage. This is the only photo I ever got of Bina smiling, and it was during ‘play time’. I was lying on my back with my feet in the air, and she was attempting to balance on my feet with her belly.
