A discovery is best when shared

I will never forget the day that I felt like a discoverer. My brother and I were on a road trip in north-western Bulgaria to celebrate his 18th birthday. It was for the first time that we decided on our own what to visit, how long to stay there and which road to take – so we were very excited by this adventure of our own making.
To choose the spots for our journey we did some research by asking my brother's geography teacher for some places to visit. His advice was about a place that was not well-known by travelers – the Chuklite (a rock phenomenon near v. Kameno Pole). They were diligently added to our route - by this I mean I scribbled the name of the village on a white sheet of paper, forgetting to note their name.
By the time we had arrived at the Kameno Pole village we had forgotten what we wanted to see there. After meeting a nice old man who offered us to take us to the mayor and ask her what was there to be seen in her village we decided to try to find it by ourselves.
After a few minutes of me reciting all the places we were to visit during our trip (which were around 10) we remembered the name of the rock phenomenon and that it was near the road for Reselets village. As there were no signs where to find it we used our phones to navigate and they took us to a meadow?! We left the car there and started walking south, south east of the main road, following a dirt road.
First, we walked past a big, yellow and sun, almost endless sunflower field. Walking ahead we reached a smaller meadow with cohered from the summer sun grass which ended with a 2-3 rows of trees. We decided out of curiosity to see what was behind the trees. There was another small meadow covered with lots of small rocks which ended suddenly like it was cut with a knife. Then, at the end of the meadow, right across us were 3 rocks which were a mixture of ochre, light gray and white, which were more than 30 m high. Their beauty was formed by the relentless work of the wind through many years. Between us and Chuklite there was a valley where once the murmur of a river was heard. One of the rocks differed from the others as it had a substantial opening going through it which was lit up by the September sunrays. We sat down and enjoyed the moment with the sun lighting the whole valley and Chuklite. It felt like they were 3 nice old ladies who were nodding and smiling at us. We felt probably like the first people who found that place – humbled and in awe.
