The diaries of Colombo
SRI LANKA | Friday, 24 April 2015 | Views [246] | Scholarship Entry
I only knew about Sri Lanka through a snail mail buddy i got back in 2007. All i knew was there had been war and his daily life.
I often thought that there was so much between India and Siri Lanka. I have never been to India but the news of the country was always on television in Uganda so i convinced myself that Siri Lanka would be as India.
When i touched down, traveling from the airport to Colombo where i would spend the next couple of days before i leave for Nairobi, the green landscape and the house designs amazed me . I was in Colombo to attend the Worlds Conference on Youth .
I loved the people: I always thought being African i was very social but the cultures in Siri Lanka, the people are so happy and i wondered how could war have ever been in this place but who knows what politics can do to a land so beautiful and happy people.
The food was good. Back home we dont do alot of spices in our foods so that took me sometime to adjust. I loved the tea but most of all the hospitality of the people
I made life time friends who even up today we exchange alot of ideas and projects we work on together. I look forward to going back and visiting beyond Colombo
