My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I come from the city of Bangalore - home to the 'Silicon Valley' of India. Having grown up in city and seeing it change over the past twenty years, there are certain events that have remained more or less the same for as long as I remember. These photos are from one of my weekend trips to the main market where early in the morning the vibrant flower market clings on to a tradition that is decades old in the midst of the growing chaotic grey concrete jungle.
I am a computer engineer by training, who worked for 4 years in a telecom company. Since the past six months, I've been living in Pisa, Italy doing research in computer science. I am avid wildlife enthusiast and volunteered in conservation activities around the Nagarhole and BR Hills national parks in Karnataka. I travel as much as I can and never without my camera - which I purchased in 2009 when I visited Cambodia. I hope to one day be able to have a semi-pro career as a wildlife and travel photographer-cum-writer.
If I were to be selected for this scholarship it would be a dream come true for me - the savanahs of Africa. Also, the chance to be mentored by Jason Edwards would help me in learning to capture the spirit of the wild in photos and use this to aid conservation activities.
