Life rolls on in the aftermath of an empirical battleground

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I find a stillness behind the lens that I’m yet to attain in any other part of my life. I’m prone to racing through life like a hurricane, but for the past two years, photography has helped me to slow down, contemplate and appreciate the world. My passion for photography is fueled by this intrinsic satisfaction, but also by a notion that we all come to this planet to explore. Photography lends a window that allows individuals to vicariously explore corners of the Earth and life experiences they may not otherwise encounter. I’m motivated by the desire to participate in opening such windows for others. To inspire people to make a change for the better in their own lives, or, to enhance their respect and desire to care for the world we live in, through capturing and sharing its beauty, is my greatest dream. I’ve flirted in the past with the idea of pursuing this dream professionally, but have been deterred by a lack of confidence, and disenchanted by excessively post-processed images in the commercial arena. In Jason I see a mentor who emanates the photographic values I aspire to. Someone who could help me overcome these obstacles and grow wings to actualize my dream.
