Greetings! My name is Andrea and I am an artist who has been living in New York for the past 11 years. I attended school for fine art and then later fashion and most recently have fallen in love with the power of photography. I believe that when used properly, a photograph has the ability to answer questions that we are sometimes afraid to ask. It has the ability to connect people and most importantly has the ability to be a voice for the voiceless.

Traveling is a gift that allows you to see and experience what life and living is all about outside of what you have been told or shown. Although I do try to travel when I can, there is so much more of this world that I want to see. For me traveling is the ultimate education.

It would be an honor to be chosen for this scholarship as I want to be the type of photographer, artist and person that can capture the essence of a country, place and person without exploiting it. I want to be able to have someone not only "see" the work, but "feel" it. I want to learn from a company of integrity such as National Geographic so that in the future when I grab my camera, I am taking an image that is not only powerful but that can connect people.
