Salvation in Switzerland

Jungfrau

I enjoying the glorious feast of Switzerland with my parents and this particular appetizer happened on Jungfrau.

The shades of the lake of Lucerne were like I had never seen before. The experience was proving to be an elixir for my soul and I was still mesmerised by that and then came the visit to Jungfrau. The mountains and the valleys were complementing each other.

It was the evening and we were lucky to board last cable car to top. On top we were so engrossed in sight seeing that we forgot to take the return car and were transfixed on the spot when told by the operator that no more cars were available for the trip back. Watching us speculate we were consoled by the authorities that they will figure out something.

In the meantime everyone started making a ruckus, from which to escape I drifted away from the group. But I never knew that my search for silence will be taking me towards a sea of serenity.

And then I saw it, the vast expanse of mountain ranges. The Alps in their most magnificent stature. The paradise came alive before me, and as the scene engulfed me I realised that I can smile and cry at the same time which I began to do uncontrollably. The whispers of the wind and the echoes of the mountain were music to the ear.

But the universe never reveals all its treasures in one go. I do not know how much time must have passed after which the nature conspired to make me fall in love with it for once and all when the sun began to set.

Shivers of ecstasy ran down my whole body. I sensed enlightenment. Though I felt that I had all the answers I caught myself asking the question: Is this Salvation? The sun vanished behind the mountains but the magic of the phenomenon remained.

The silence was broken by the booming voice of the railway official who told us that considering that we did not have any accommodation atop the mountain they have sought special permission to take us back down by the train. I would not have been fortunate enough to see the splendid late sunset and had a train running, from top of Europe, especially for us had we not boarded the last cable car by mistake. The journey on train coming down the steep slopes was also a thrilling experience.

One cannot relive the unique experience of mine (because I cannot advise to miss the cable car on purpose), yet similar bliss can be obtained by planning a visit to Jungfrau. This beautiful bounty which left me a more beatific person was definitely my path to successful salvation.
