My Scholarship entry - Utah Slot Canyons

I was raised to chase a life of freedom. I was taught to embrace experiences, to make up my own mind, and to stay inspired by keeping my eyes and soul open.
Cameras help me interpret the world around me. The snap of a frame keeps me breathing. My goal is to live creatively while pushing the scope of my experience through adventure. I want to see travel documented the way I see it in my eyes, and feel in my heart. I have learned to be self-reliant and to always be able to MacGyver my way out of a situation.
I want to work for the largest publications because I want to reach the world with my images. I don’t want to work for magazines for the prestige. It is my life goal to capture such a visceral moment that it makes someone pick up my image, quite their job, and start traveling.
I am ready to be trained by the people who inspire me. I aspire to learn from Jason Edwards and get my foot in the door of travel photography, because I want to create images powerful enough to change the world. I want to learn the ideal mixture of adventure and storytelling. This trip will teach me to tell stories for the rest of my life, which will have a tremendous impact on the world community.
