My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | 5 photos

I am a current Photograhy student at London College of Communication and I think I really deserve this scholarship. Why? First of all, because I am tallented, of course. And second, because I am really passionate about photography and travel. Although not a National Geographic photographer – yet –, me and my Canon already captured landscapes of 22 countries. You can join one of our stories at the following lines:
The name of the trek was enough to inspire anyone keen for adventures: The Lost City. But there were also the cons: mud, rain, plus big and voracious mosquitos. Regardless of all the warnings, I accepted to pay 450,000 colombianos (around 250 dollars) to indulge myself in a 5-day trek to the so called Ciudad Perdida de Santa Marta, north of Colombia.
It was the rainy season. That means the muddy path was even muddier and the already rainy days were even wetter. In our way to these mysterious ruins, we could see the engraved steps of hundreds of tourists that were there before us – and also make new ones of our own.
The first river-crossing was really exciting. We had to get inside a fragile basket and get pulled out by the guides through a rope. In the second picture, you can seen one of the locals using this “mean of transportation” while the tourists wait for their turn.
After lots of others adrenaline moments, we finally arrived in our destiny. The view is fantastic: ruins of around 1,000 years old perched on the top of a mountain (picture 3). The place seems surrounded by magic – and moss. The weather is so humid that you have to be careful when using the stairs (picture 4).
And the adventure never stops. In our way back, we had to cross the river again. But these time, with no basket. Well, the last picture speaks for itself.
