My winter blues kicked in and my travel itch was breaking into a rash all over my pale skin, I wanted out so bad. But I had to stay, and wait for our NOT so spring break to come. Every day it snowed, I found myself diving so deep into travel website, searching and comparing for an escape route on my student budget. I searched and searched for months on end while we kept getting buried under heaps of snow.
I woke up one; I picked up my phone, turned off my alarm and checked the weather. The temperature dropped to -44, school was still open. And I was not willing to get out of bed anymore. I put my phone down and stared at the white ceiling above my head and remembered the movie “The Rum Diary" by Johnny Depp. Aaaaah! Puerto Rico! Blue sky, sea, music, dance and good looking people! I imagined myself walking by the beach, the sun kissing my half naked skin. I dreamt of green fields, flowers, historical sites. I fell in love. I woke up again, picked up my phone and browsed for tickets to Puerto Rico. BOOM! I found a ticket I can afford! I got excited, almost choked on my saliva! I jumped out of bed fetched for my credit card and started searching for hostels. Perfect, I found good hostels with excellent locations and reviews online. I booked my ticket and I didn't even care that half of my rent wasn't even paid yet, I just wanted to go. In Puerto Rico I did many things, enjoyed many places, but what I would never forget one day, was the day I went scuba diving for the first time in my life, it was also the day I tried the famous South American dish ceviche. And to conclude the night I just happened to find myself passing by an outdoor bar and dance floor by the beach. Shy me; stood in the corner admiring these men and women dance, twist, sweat and laugh to this fast and exotic music, I stood there feeling so sorry for myself. I would never be able to do this in public, I am so shy, I will have a heart attack if I even tried to dance in public. Suddenly my fear was interrupted by a tall handsome young man, he asked me if I want to dance I said I don’t know how to dance, he said I will teach you.4 hrs. later I was twisting and twirling and dancing with this total stranger and I have never felt so happier in my life, I didn't even see or feel the people dancing around me anymore. Shyness went out of the window and I was just having a great time.
