My Scholarship entry - A pray to be

Sri Lanka | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

I believe that lives are made of stories that can be told in many different ways and travelling has provided me many stories worth being told. Journey after journey, it became almost an addiction and I am sure that living those distant realities, contributed a lot to the person I am now. Pictures have the power to make others share a bit of what I saw and experienced.

Until now, photography was ‘just’ a passion. Recently, though, I was asked to shoot for specific events. I then realised how the effort of being focused all the time, under pressure in the struggle of capturing the best of what was happening, sharpened my senses and increased my ability to see what was worth being shot.

This shift from pure passion to aware commitment in photography, combined with travelling and seeing new realities, are the main reasons why this scholarship would mean so much to me. Going on a journey with the aim to learn how to get the best possible shots is, without exaggerating, a dream becoming true.

My name is Irene, I am half Italian, half Dutch and I was born in 1990 in Pordenone (Italy). I studied design and arts in Bolzano, a city in the north of Italy, and I graduated in March 2014.
