Now the title of this post may sound strange, but upon perusing the shelves of the local supermarket here in Zell Am See (Austria), that is exactly what we found. Needless to say this started off bouts of chortling and dare i say it a tiny bit of guffawing.
Hello everyone, it's been awhile, i didn't mention to everyone that i was goin to be hitting the hinterlands and pretty much dropping off the internet. Sorry bout that, i actually thought i would be able to find an internet cafe or something somewhere, but between some sportsmanlike bus transfers and heavy luggage it has been hard to get to a Maccas (free Wifi), plus i can't stand McDonalds so that certainly doesn't help.
So a little update. Where have you been Shean?
Well i'm glad you asked, let's see. Last time i wrote i think i was in Vienna. Since then i have been to a beautiful place outside Vienna called Baden, 2 days there then a cross country charge to Salzburg. From there we went to a surprising town called Imst, then on to Fersteinsee, back to Imst for one night, thenon to where we are now. Zell Am See.
Okay brief rundown. Baden is beautiful, especially if you love gentle walks.
Salzburg is a bit of a dissapointment, the old city is nice and getting aroun on the hills is nice, but the city is under construction. Half of my ill feelings about Salzburg could be directly attributed to where we weere staying as we were camping in what looked and sounded like a fucking international parking lot. No shit, people driving in all hours of the night, one particularly lively night happened starring a loud farting Polish couple in a small tent. The mans snoring was like a flaming buzz saw that reverberated of the buildings. Not much sleep happened there.
Imst... Now this was the most surprising. Eve described it as a bit of nothing amidst the mountains, it turned out to be awesome. Yes rain and general shitty weather kicked in but that couldn't deter me from the fact that i had the most enjoyable uphill walk i have ever had. Add to that arriving at the summit, there awaiting before me a special treat. A chair lift even further up almost to 2000 metres, depositing me at the roof of the world with the impending joy of a tabogan run that clocks in at about 4 or more k's down a mountainside, and a real mountain, not like the shitty sledge runs in Australia. Add to this the fact that it was only 10.20 euro. Awesome!!!
So after Imst we went to Fernsteinsee, a little in the middle of nowhere slightly close to the German border. It was a little dissapointing, but nice at the same time.
