中文 (jong when - Chinese) Language Partners

USA | Wednesday, 30 September 2009 | Views [200] | Comments [2]

I met with all of my Chinese language partners. They are all very out going, anxious to discuss progressive ideas and all in all excited to help me learn their native language. They are surprisingly good matches.

It´s been a while since I´ve had someone push me mentally, and I´ve missed it very much. Perhaps that´s one reason why I love to travel so much - because I meet numerous people who unabashedly question other´s view on race, politics, religion, etc with nothing off limits. I am constantly pushed to better explain and define my beliefs and opinions. I am constantly learning about other views.

I´ve got the itch again. I´ve got the itch to go travel and to push the limits of my comfort level. I miss being on the edge of comfort and always having to push myself through a new situation, no matter how awkward, uncomfortable and difficult it is due to various cultural differences. Granted, I can do that daily here in Madison, or anywhere, but it´s completely differnt abroad. I´m not sure where I´m going, but I´m going some where soon.

i like your blog. i may start one. i could just post notes on facebook but thats just too easy for people to go see. you know those who go out of their way for your blogsite are your real friends :)

i know what you mean about your ideas being challenged. i lead a small bible study for international students most of which aren't christians but have never had an opportunity to really get into the bible and freely ask questions.

they ask really good questions that really challenge you to think and communicate your beliefs in a way they can understand (saying 'as christians, when you abide in the Lord you will see the Spirit working heavily in your life' really doesn't explain much. haha) but its been awesome, its made me reexamine a lot of things of my own faith and has made it stronger. yay learning from foreign people :)

Well, I started a blog because I´m friends with a lot of coworkers, university faculty/staff, and random people I met from abroad that I don´t necessarily want knowing all of this information. At the same time, a lot of the people I want to read this don´t have facebook. So, this was a nice compromise.

Let me know if you start one! :)
