Carnival day

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Croatia | Friday, September 17, 2010 | flickr photos

Every town has something that it's known for. In my town, that something happens in February. It's a carnival.
It's not the biggest and certainly it's not the most famous one. But it's a day that we all live for. I want to tell you a story about a place and the people, that happens only once a year.
Here's a place that I visited.
It's fifteen minutes from my home.

About me
I started photographing 9 months ago. Never before I picked up a camera nor I knew the magic it does.
In the centre of my photographic interest are people, whether it's documentary, travel or street photography. The story behind the photo is a must. The possibility to see under human skin in just one photo is, I find, breathtaking.
As all young photographers, I search for recognition and constantly evaluate and compare my work. Giving me the opportunity to have this Scholarship, is a chance for me to give back to society lots of moving images that I'll hopefully learn to produce.
I am aware that I've just made one small step in a long trip to make myself a better photographer, the journey which makes me shiver when I think of it. I think I should win the World Nomads Scholarship because I'm determined to learn and improve, I'm focused on type of photography that really interests me and feel so much thrill in every aspect of photographic work. I'm off to a good start in an art that is making impact for decades and since I started photographing, every contest I entered published my photo work.
A few months ago I started a sort of a photoblog, which I see as an online trace of my development and progress in photography, here it is: malineobicni.blogspot.com.
