My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Hong Kong | Friday, October 15, 2010 | 5 photos
A cultural hub, an exciting mix of western and eastern influence shows in Hong Kong's bustling streets and its myriad of restaurants. Its torrential downpours are shortlived but give relief to the pressing humidy....and an excuse to stop work though not seeming to stop the endless stream of shoppers.
WorldNomads you are presenting me with a lifelong ambition to work on assignment with the National Geographic brand...my other ambition was fulfulled a short few years ago with a purchase of a Nikon (sorry Pentax!). I seem to be 'on assignment' each day as I look at everything photographically - often testing my wife's patience.
I like the broad landscapes that surround us, but always on the lookout for those small intricate details that depict a region.
All our spare time is taken practising to be 'grey nomads' with photography being the main motivation as well as the experience of different places and people. This has been done more often on the local scene so to experience a country like Bhutan would be a truly satisfying and inspirational journey.
I've been preparing in the last few years for my second career in the 'life after work' and this assignment would be an exceptional learning experience on this road.
I've been chosen to contribute in a national photographic book of Australia and look towards a full publication of my own. This trip would be a fantastic means to develop skills and ideas aound a theme.
I look forward to my journey....wherever it may take me...ah, and my camera.
