Wand'ring About Detailing the life of an itinerant engineer.

About iano

I'm a fallen aerospace engineer who is doomed to while away my career in the oilfield running sensor packages while other people drill wells.  This has had me living offshore in the Gulf of Mexico for nearly five years, touring shipyards in South Korea, spending a happy two months in an engineering facility in northern Germany, trudging through snow in western Siberia, and sitting still for hours on end waiting for something to happen (it always does, eventually) in first Scotland, then Germany. In 2016 I got laid off! Let the adventure begin!

To pass the time I go diving, do Muay Thai for beer, drive motorcycles around strange countries, tour thousand year old temples, scale castle walls, drink beer in tents, do medieval reenactments, go trekking through all manner of mountain ranges, SCUBA dive under ice, sword fight, write terrible works of fiction, do metalcasting, prototype electronics, grow edible mushrooms, and whatever else I come across that looks fun.  It's a hard life.
