My Scholarship entry - discoveries of the urban youth

United Kingdom | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

Photography wasn’t an element of my upbringing it was a craft I cultivated to show my vision. Growing up I was suffocated by gritty youth culture and consistent shocks that came with the city, but my wanderlust cravings would frustrate me for more natural scenery, an escape from the city sirens. I have always preferred to take photos of nature as I am capturing true non-cosmetic beauty as well as embedding my love of wildlife and finding unimaginable magnificence in the outdoors. The photographs of my explorations of Cornwall, England, glows serendipity and echo innocent ventures, the fairy-tale style to the images insist that that the images are viewed through the eyes of a young explorer. I have found that the juxtaposition of this beautiful location to the city gives comfort to many troubled adolescents. The idea of adventure and exploration is scarce in my society which is why evidencing these beautiful places through photographs is vital in hope of inspiring others. The idea that my photos in combination with nature, helps others to find peace and ambition is something that motivates me to use photography to help similar communities and inspire people to learn about the world.
