My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

India | Monday, November 7, 2011 | flickr photos

I am a second year architecture student. In my school I am taught how to be a disciplined individual more than anything. In architecture it’s not how well you draw but how patient you are to get through a project and make your imagination come to life. I treat photography the same. In a world where a memory stick doesn’t restrain anybody to stop clicking and where the marginal cost of deleting a photograph is zero, there is tendency to go for mindless clicking without focusing on a subject. I have always believed in the idea of portraying precise moments in each frame. I do believe in trial and error method to get the moment correct, but I don’t stand for random clicking.
As a photographer, I stand for those unrecognized individuals who make important contribution in our society, but are overlooked and disregarded. My photographs intend to be a voice for the voiceless. That’s why I consider myself a worthy applicant for Travel Photography Scholarship.
During this assignment I want to experience what a National Geography photographer is to be. I look forward to learn from a internationally acclaimed photographer the art of blending light with life, the technicalities of photography and appreciation of photographs. I also look forward to understand how Jason Edwards connects himself with the unknown world and though being someone from a separate species, recognizes and captures the rare moments of wildlife.
I want to explore, experience, experiment and learn to capture the wild. Being an architecture student, I have understood the relationship between man and his shelter. Now I look forward to study and photograph the relationship of wild and their natural habitat.
