Journey In An Unknown Culture
I remember in the year 1997 when the civil war started in Sierra Leone and at that time i was only five years of age and so we have to leave the city to go and stay up in the provinces and since birth i have never been up to the province and it was very difficult for me to cope with. We went to a community were i was not allowed to speak due to language barriers. One thing i hated there in the provinces is the initiation of boy and girls into secret societies, during the course of their initiation they have to undergo circumcision. And by that time i did not know anything about their culture and i was held and beaten up by their Chief who said i am a stranger and i need to pay for seeing their culture.Since then i hated the culture of them.
