My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Australia | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
Since being gifted a camera in grade seven for use on a school trip to Canberra, I have fallen in love with photography and more importantly, telling peoples' story.
I have since combined my photography with my love of sport, entering into sports photography on weekends - in between lectures and shifts at the local coffee shop. However, sports photography has always left me somewhat unsatisfied, it lacks the personal connection, that personal story telling that I strive for.
The world is a beautiful place, with many cultures spanning the globe, each individual with a story to tell. I see it as very important to get to know each of my subjects as best I can prior to photographing them, my camera is a tool that provides me an intimate view of people’s lives, it is this ‘storytelling’ that I love the most.
Photojournalism is my true passion and being able to learn first hand from Jason would provide an invaluable opportunity to take my photography to the next level, to learn the many facets of being a photojournalist and how to best kickstart my career.
