The Invisible Highway

Maldives | Sunday, June 30, 2013 | 4 photos

They say I'm lucky not to be a typical home-bound Slovenian, and to have been to places which the average citizen of my country can't even locate on the map (but then again, I can see you're struggling with Slovenia, too!).

I just returned home after having spent three years living and working in the Maldives, and there's a myriad of stories that are invisible to the eye of a tourist, let alone readers who may never be fortunate enough to visit it.

I seem to have a nose for stories and I've got a whole list of potential pieces noted down alone from the Maldives (the trippy phenomenon of flueorescent diving, solidary behaviour of mantas, how most of the fine sand is in fact parrot fish poo or how one can pump sand out of the water and build an - airport, how air travel has made remote area acccessible, Maldives on a budget...).

The idea to do something with topics that pop up into my mind has been growing in my brain for some time.

Regardless of where life takes me, can I break new ground and find stories about places people 'have known, but never been'? Yes. Do I need a learning opportunity to improve my photography skills? Yes.

And that's why I believe I should be chosen to take part in this fantastic assignment.
